Job Description


You will be responsible for the Core Publishing team that build the foundational APIs and systems that support the rest of our Engineering team

You will lead a team of passionate and excited Engineers, developing a high-performance culture, fostering a positive and healthy team dynamic, on the following tech stack:

  • Golang

  • React

  • GraphQL

  • NodeJS

  • Kubernetes

  • Kafka

  • AWS

  • Concourse CI/CD

  • Slack

  • Prometheus

  • Grafana

  • ElasticSearch

  • PostgreSQL

Note: it is not expected that you have experience in these technologies, but you have a track record of working with new technologies and are willing to learn.

Day to day you will:

  • Contribute and be involved in leading the evolution of the engineering culture and ensuring that our broader technology values are embraced.
  • Manage prioritisation activities and ensure alignment of effort to objectives and direction, working with stakeholders & colleagues as needed.
  • Manage the day-to-day scrum activities including Daily Stand-ups, Grooming, Retro’s, Planning and Showcases.
  • Work with engineering leads to ensure the highest practical level of quality is achieved both in the end result and in the manner in which work is conducted.
  • Guide and support your team members in achieving the team’s goals and offer them opportunities for self-development and growth.

Qualifications


You are passionate about your team and their professional development. You remain engaged in their wellbeing, growing their skillset and assisting them in finding great opportunities to further themselves.

You are capable of being ‘hands-on’, but you make the choice when and if you should be involved. This may include working on early prototypes, occasional features that you choose to do and some code reviews.

Your ‘can-do’ and open customer centered approach makes you approachable to work with.

You contribute to a learning-oriented workplace culture, being curious about the world around you, seeking new ways to explore and bring new thinking and practices to bear within your team. You remain open to learning new technologies and techniques, and finding creative ways to leverage this knowledge to further team goals.

Iterative development & planning practices are second nature to how you operate.

Must have experience:

  • Previous software development experience, with exposure in web development (ideally minimum 5 years)

  • Proven experience leading technical solutions

  • Experience with Agile delivery practices
